## Advisor Style & Mentorship No weekly 1:1 meeting, no daily guidance, but he is accessible via email and in his office. He usually drops by students' office and labs once or twice a week when he is not very busy. He gives great freedom to students in reserach and support students' scientific ideas as much as he can. He puts a lot of effort in polishing students' reports when they are going to give public presentations. He usually does not directly answer the students' questions but give some reference to students and let them find the answer. It may be safe for me to say that I can't find an advisor better than him in the future.
## Expectations for PhD Students Based on previous PhD graduated from his group, three papers are enough for graduation. He often encourages students to do good jobs and win awards.
## Funding & Support I got full financial support from NIMS and the professor for research, conferences and travels when I was in the group.
## Research No matter what ideas you have, you are encouraged to explore science by using all sources that are available in the lab. His group can be the best for those who have great motivation and ideas.
## Lab Culture The lab is harmonious and supportive. It is very enjoyable to study and work in the group. Working on the weekend and holidays is not recommended. Health is the first. But whether or not to work in non-working time is self-determined.
PS: Not sure how soon he is going to retire. Because of this he may not recruite new students.
