## Advisor Style & Mentorship Bad advisor and mentor. Doesn´t care for your development or for you gaining knowledge. Just wants to push his questionable reserch to support his companies. ## Expectations for PhD Students Don´t expect much. You can expect getting pressured to produce results supporting his hypotheses. If they don´t match he will tell you that you are not good enough or not capapble of doing things right. ## Funding & Support Funding is good though. UCSD has a lot of core units which support research with state of the art techniques. ## Research Research is questionable. He is chasing for new opportunities all the time and will burn you with projects he doesn´t really understand. Same with techniques. He is not an expert of most techniques he uses nowadays. So you have to learn it yourself and if things don´t work out or do not produce fitting results its your fault. ## Lab Culture Lab culture is weired. He doesnt appreciate collaborations, both within the lab and to other labs. In general people are mostley friendly, but there are some hidden, never resolved conflict, which make it difficult to work and navigate through.
