## Advisor Style & Mentorship
Fairly hands-off. Group meetings were not very regular, but he was often available for one-on-one meetings. He integrates students and postdocs into external collaborations and follows their professional development carefully. There is very little direct assignment of projects or data, but a lot of opportunities to design projects instead.
## Expectations for PhD Students
I think that he only cares that you do your best.
## Funding & Support
It's ok - there was enough money to visit many conferences and publish in very good journals. As an editor of a major journal, Fabian is very knowledgeable of paper reviewing. The group fluctuates in size and has sometimes been quite small. However, the department is big and supportive.

Broad interests in excellent research topics.
## Lab Culture
Positive culture with support and not too much pressure. He does a good job of making everyone feel welcome. On the other hand, the group members don't collaborate scientifically all that much.
