## Advisor Style & Mentorship The advising style was often difficult to work with. Communication could be harsh and, at times, felt disrespectful. Feedback was not always delivered constructively, and even minor mistakes (such as small typos) could trigger disproportionately strong reactions. This made it challenging to maintain a productive and supportive mentor–mentee relationship. ## Expectations for PhD Students Expectations were extremely strict, with very low tolerance for any form of error. While high standards are important, the lack of flexibility and understanding created a high-pressure environment that was not conducive to learning or growth. There was little room for open discussion or clarification when issues arose. ## Funding & Support There were concerns regarding financial support. In particular, reimbursement for conference-related expenses was not handled appropriately despite multiple attempts to follow up. This created unnecessary financial and administrative stress ## Research Progress on research outputs was hindered. There are always delays in allowing work to be submitted for publication without clear or transparent justification. This negatively impacted academic progress and professional development. ## Lab Culture The overall lab environment felt tense and, at times, toxic. There appeared to be a pattern of students being dismissed from the group without clear, specific, or consistently communicated reasons, which created a sense of instability and uncertainty among group members. Interactions could be discouraging, and concerns were not addressed fairly.

No, I don't recommend this PI.
