Back when I used to be in this lab, not a day went by where I didn’t want to kill myself. She is manipulative and emotionally abusive. On top of that she’s a sociopathic liar and will say anything to get what she wants. Don’t believe anything that comes out of her mouth … Her being nice in the beginning is all an act. Last I heard she’s still thriving at MIT … I guess karma still hasn’t caught up to her.

Besides the fact that she’s an absolutely terrible human being, she’s also just plain stupid. She’s relied on generations of MIT students to make a name for herself. Ask her what the second law of thermodynamics is and she couldn’t tell you.

For those of you currently in her lab, keep your head up! There are better days ahead!

From what I've heard from grad students I know in her lab, she recently had 4 or 5 grad students all leave at the same time. She has a history of threatening to retaliate against students for not doing things according to her preferences, and she seems just like a bully overall. You will probably do good work in her lab, but be prepared to be demeaned, humiliated, and manipulated into doing work according to her rules and not having any power or say in anything. There are PI's that do similar work that are a million times better (such as Prof. Betar Gallant), so save yourself the trouble and just join a different lab. You will not regret it.
